DENVER — The CH2M HILL-operated Key West Richard A. Heyman Wastewater Treatment Plant received the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s 2014 Plant Operations Excellence Award, according to a press release.

The Plant Operations Excellence Award is presented annually to facilities demonstrating a commitment to excellence in operations, management and maintenance, stated the release.

CH2M HILL has provided operations and maintenance services at the wastewater treatment plant since the firm performed “original facility design and construction management” in 1988, continued the release.

“This award not only demonstrates Key West’s commitment to excellence but is a testament to a successful partnership between CH2M HILL and the city of Key West in protecting the fragile marine environment of the Florida Keys by changing how the city handled its wastewater,” said Steve Meininger, CH2M HILL senior vice president and managing director, Operations Management Services.

The Key West facility also earned the Operations Excellence Award in 2004, 2009 and 2012, noted the release.
