Lavatec Laundry Technology wins trademark infringement lawsuit

Sept. 8, 2014

BEACON FALLS, Conn. — Lavatec Laundry Technology GmbH filed a lawsuit in 2013 for trademark infringement in the U.S.

BEACON FALLS, Conn. — A federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut ruled in favor of Lavatec Laundry Technology GmbH and its U.S. subsidiary Lavatec Laundry Technology (LLT) Inc., respectively, concerning rights to the trademark “Lavatec” for use in connection with commercial laundry equipment sold in the U.S., according to a press release.

Both parties to the lawsuit claimed the exclusive right to use the Lavatec trademark in the U.S. following a restructuring of Lavatec Laundry Technology GmbH’s operations in 2009, stated the release.

The release reported that outside the U.S., Lavatec Laundry Technology GmbH is the undisputed owner of the Lavatec trademark, manufacturing and installing advanced tunnel washing systems worldwide since 2010.

In 2013 the German laundry equipment company filed a lawsuit against Lavatec Inc. for trademark infringement in the U.S., and in the recent ruling, the U.S. District Court found that Lavatec Laundry Technology GmbH “now holds the exclusive ownership of the mark in the U.S.,” noted the release.
