Expected market growth for membrane cartridges; FCC names CEO; Singer adds sales reps

Sept. 21, 2017

This week’s industry news: Pharmaceutical membrane cartridge market forecasted to grow; FCC Group appoints Colio as new CEO; Singer adds two new sales reps.

Pharmaceutical membrane cartridge market to exceed $1.2 billion in 2018

According to the latest forecast in the Cartridge Filters: World Market report from McIlvaine Company, the pharmaceutical industry will spend $1.2 billion on membrane cartridges in 2018. Membrane cartridges are used in separation processes; to purify water for use in products; and for the removal of contaminants from wastewater.

The report also shows that NAFTA will continue to be the leading consumer, although East Asia is showing the most quantitative growth. West Asia and specifically India is showing the largest percentage growth. Membrane cartridges are in the high-performance category, which means they are purchased based on performance more than on price. The top three pharmaceutical companies — Pfizer, Merck, and Roche — are spending more than $130 million a year for these cartridges. This report provides forecasts for 80 countries in each industry for four types of cartridges. It also provides estimated purchases by 550 end users and 400 EPCs and system suppliers.

FCC Group appoints Colio as new CEO

FCC Group‘s board of directors named Pablo Colio as Carlos M. Jarque’s replacement as CEO of FCC. Jarque will remain as a member of the board of directors.

Colio graduated from the Madrid School of Architecture in 1994 and has been working at FCC for nearly 23 years. He will combine his new position of CEO with his previous role as general manager of FCC Construction. Prior to that, as general manager of FCC Industrial, he was responsible for its international expansion and the unification of all industrial companies of FCC Group under the brand FCC Industrial.
