Microvi founder and CEO receives woman of the year award

HAYWARD, Calif. — The Assembly District 20 Distinguished Woman of the Year award recognizes women who have made noteworthy public contributions and accomplishments in California’s assembly district 20.

HAYWARD, Calif. — Microvi announced Dr. Fatemeh Shirazi, the biotechnology company’s CEO and founder, has been named an Assembly District 20 Distinguished Woman of the Year, according to a press release.

The award recognizes women who have made noteworthy public contributions and accomplishments in California’s assembly district 20, and Shirazi is the business honoree of the award, stated the release.

Shirazi has been the CEO of Microvi since 2008, and prior to Microvi, she has held numerous executive positions at other companies, reported the release.

Shirazi and six other honorees will be recognized at a ceremony on March 21 at the Chabot College Event Center in Hayward, continued the release.

Other honorees of the award are being recognized for contributions in other areas, including social justice, public safety, education and health, noted the release.

“I am honored and humbled to have been named for this distinction,” said Shirazi. “Microvi has been a pioneer of cutting-edge solutions for solving our world’s most pressing challenges, and I am proud to serve at the helm throughout this exciting time.”
