Masdar Institute and Xylem sign agreement
The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology and Xylem Inc. formed research collaboration to establish sustainability indicators for water, wastewater and water transport and treatment facilities in Abu Dhabi. A one-year study will establish key performance indicators. The study will aim to help policymakers, regulators and those responsible for specifying and purchasing equipment and processes in the region to make informed decisions.
Xylem unveils growth plan for MENA region
Xylem Inc. will invest $35 million from 2015-2018 to expand the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The company will focus on the increased localization of products and building vital local capabilities, including manufacturing to provide customers with more high-quality, efficient services and products. Xylem’s previous work in the region includes a local manufacturing plant and offices in the UAE, Oman and Qatar.
Xylem expands pump rental capabilities
Xylem Inc. will expanding its pump rental and service portfolio across Europe and South Africa through a multimillion-euro investment. With the plan, Xylem hopes to better meet the market demand from construction, industry, municipal and mining customers across the regions and support its larger global strategy to help build resilient communities that are more prepared to respond to extreme weather events.
Uponor acquires startup company specializing in water quality monitoring
Uponor Corporation acquired the entire shareholding in NWater Oy, a Finnish startup company that specializes in online water quality monitoring. The company developed a technology that uses sensors to detect and measure waterborne particles and microbes online in real-time.

New vice president of AWWA elected
Mitch Kannenberg, an associate vice president in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota office of Leggette, Brashears & Graham, Inc. (LBG), has been elected a vice president by the board of directors of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). An AWWA member for more than 15 years, Kannenberg is a past chair of the section and has served on and chaired several section councils. Kannenberg has worked on a multitude of projects involving groundwater quality and groundwater resource evaluation.

Fieldman, Rolapp & Associates promoted Adam Bauer to CEO. Bauer will serve as president of the company, a role he has held for nearly two years. In his expanded role, Bauer will assume the responsibilities of predecessor Tom DeMars, who will continue to advise on strategic initiatives and work with existing clients.

Lynette Macfee joins Icon Technology Systems
Icon Technology Systems appointed Lynette MacFee as vice president of sales Western region in the North American market. A member of the drinking water and filtration industry for more than 25 years, MacFee’s experience includes commercial and residential bottle water, point-of-use water cooler knowledge and the application of ozone into drinking water equipment.

Corvias Solutions names new director
David Washington will serve as director of program operations for Corvias Solutions’ Clean Water Partnership, a stormwater public-private partnership between Corvias and Prince George’s County Government. Washington will manage the day-to-day operations of partnership and lead collaborative efforts to meet goals and objectives of the program.
Search for editor in chief of Journal AWWA commences
Michael J. McGuire, PhD, PE, announced that he will step down as editor in chief (EiC) of Journal – American Water Works Association (AWWA) as of June 2016, ending a two-year tenure in the role. Zsolt Silberer, BSc, MBA, AWWA director of publications, is leading the effort to find a successor "to carry forward the great work that Mike has done with the journal and to bring innovation, industry and research expertise and knowledge of the issues for the water industry.”
AWWA Board of Directors selects next president-elect
The AWWA Board of Directors elected Brenda Lennox of Beaverton, Oregon, as its next president-elect. Lennox has been an AWWA member for 20 years and she is the manager of customer and support services for the Tualatin Valley Water District in Beaverton. She is currently an AWWA vice president and a member of the Management & Leadership Division and the Diversity & Member Inclusion Committee.
MTN Products and Water Solutions announce changes to sales force

Jim Wilson will serve as the new executive vice president of sales and marketing for MTN Products and Water Solutions (HK) Ltd. He will manage customer service, marketing, sales and technical service. Wilson has 23 years of experience in the beverage industry, including his work representing leading manufacturers of commercial equipment and supplies sold to the bottle water, water filtration, office coffee services, beverage and vending industries.

MTN Products and Water Solutions (HK) Ltd. also announced the addition of Dan Humphries to its sales force. In this role, Humphries will be responsible for the Southwest territory. He has 11 years of experience as a manufacturer representative in the water and wine industries, and he also serves as owner/president of Dan Humphries Sales Co. and Bull Dancer Bison Ranch.
NSF International promotes new leaders
NSF International promoted five general managers in its Global Water Division. “These leaders will support NSF’s continued growth, help strengthen customer service and develop new standards and services that address emerging public health needs associated with drinking water,” according to a press release. The new managers are:

H2M promotes new project architect
H2M architects + engineers’ Erik Heuler, Associate AIA, LEEP AP BD+ was promoted from project designer to project architect in its Emergency Services Studio. “Heuler will coordinate projects with other disciplines, reviewing designs in house and with clients, handling construction administration, performing program and code analysis and handling more complex projects moving forward than he was in his previous role.”
PM Environmental adds regional manager and senior consultant
PM Environmental added Randy Bishop to its staff as regional business development manager and senior consultant. Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bishop will lead business development for the greater Cincinnati region and act as a senior consultant on select projects.
Bishop is a licensed Professional Geologist with more than 30 years of experience in geological sciences. His knowledge and experience includes all stages of Phase I/Phase II environmental site assessments, Brownfields assessments, remedial design, implementation and maintenance, deep exploratory drilling, conducting and managing CERCLA Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies (RI/FS), RCRA Facility Investigation/Corrective Measures Studies (RFI/CMS) and state-driven voluntary action projects.

Aquatic achieves 1 million working hours without incident
Aquatic Engineering & Construction Ltd., achieved 1 million working hours without a Lost Time Incident (LTI). The business saw 1,000 days without an LTI in December 2014.
H2O Innovation awarded new contracts
H2O Innovation Inc. earned two new contracts in Canada and one new contract in the U.S., one of which will use Clearlogx technology. These new contracts bring the company’s sales backlog to a record high of $50.8 million, excluding the sales backlog from its specialty products and services business line.
