YANGON, Myanmar — Myanmar's first ever Water Expo took place from Oct. 24 to 26 at the Tatmadaw Exhibition Hall this year, organized by UBM Asia, according to an article from heraldonline.com.

The Expo had over 150 exhibitors from 12 countries with international pavilions from Malaysia and Singapore and booths from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, France, the U.K., Austria, China and Myanmar, the article reported.

According to the article, the Minister of Industry and Electricity of Yangon Region, U Nyan Tun Oo, presided over the opening ceremony of the show, which included international water, wastewater and industrial wastewater treatment and purification industry leaders.

"Myanmar Water 2013 comes at just the right time as there are so many problems being encountered today in the production and delivery of potable water, considering the unpredictability of the weather and climatic conditions now prevailing," said U Nyan Tun Oo. "This event will be a way of encouraging the global water practitioners for a meaningful avenue to review technological advances, share experiences and update on the latest issues and developments to provide better and cleaner water for the people of this country."
