WASHINGTON —On Sept. 9, the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), according to a press release.

The MOU will promote amplified collaboration and communication between the two organizations in efforts to improve watershed-level water quality, stated the release.

The signing ceremony will take place at the National Press Club located at 629 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20045, on the 13th floor at 12 p.m., continued the release.

The release noted that the goal of the MOU is to encourage clean water agencies and nearby dairy farms to work together to enhance water quality and reduce runoff associated with livestock manure; potential projects include: Cooperation on building anaerobic digesters that can use manure to generate electricity and reduce methane emissions, as well as controlling nutrient discharges through the use of nutrient separation technologies and land management practices.
