National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation announces 15 scholarship recipients

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Each scholarship recipient is entering into a field of study that supports, serves and/or promotes groundwater professions.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation (NGWREF) awarded $25,000 in scholarships to 15 students from its Len Assante Scholarship Fund, according to a press release.

Each scholarship recipient is entering into a field of study serving, supporting and/or promoting groundwater professions, stated the release.

Founded in 1994 as an IRS-approved public charity and operated by the National Ground Water Association (NGWA), continued the release, NGWREF is a 501(c)(3) public foundation focused on conducting research, educational and other charitable activities related to a broader public understanding of groundwater.

Alexandra Polasko, studying environmental sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, received $3,500 through the Past President’s Award, which is the “top scholarship presented to the most qualified of applicants,” reported the release.

Studying geology at the University of Wyoming, Annette Hein also received $3,500 through the Ora Lyons Award, which is named in honor of a former, distinguished NGWA member, noted the release.
