COVENTRY, R.I. — New Castle County, Delaware, awarded a contract to upgrade the ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system at its wastewater facility to Neptune Benson’s ETS-UV, according to a press release.

The upgrade will convert the current chlorine-based system to a closed vessel UV system, stated the release.

Neptune Benson has served the industrial, aquatics and municipal markets since 1956, noted the release.

“We were impressed with the advances that have been made in UV technology since we installed our first UV system (open channel UV) at one of our other facilities,” said New Castle Country Director of Facilities and Maintenance Regis Yurcich. “The ETS closed vessel systems are fully enclosed, use automatic wipers to keep the sleeves clean, use fewer lamps and are both safer and simpler to use.”
