DENVER — Dec. 2, 2015 — The American Water Works Association (AWWA) provides information on the design and installation of hydraulic and pneumatic power actuators in its newest manual, according to a press release.

M66 Cylinder and Vane Actuators and Controls – Design and Installation is available in AWWA’s online store and as a PDF download, noted the release. AWWA members will receive a discounted price.

Growing popularity in automatic process systems has led to a rise in the use of power actuators, which are a fundamental part of water and wastewater systems, stated the release. The new manual is designed to serve as a resource for operators, engineers and utility supervisors during startup and troubleshooting.

The manual gives specific parameters to discuss how various power actuators are constructed and operated, reported the release. Readers can learn how to install, control and maintain and equipment as well as select the best style for application.

M66 complements AWWA Standards C541 Hydraulic and Pneumatic Cylinder and Vane-Type Actuators for Valves and Slide Gates and C542 Electric Motor Actuators for Valves and Slide Gates, shared the release.
