The company is currently accepting applications for the green project funding, which will offer up to $10,000 for qualifying, innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore or protect watersheds, surface water and/or groundwater supplies, the release reported.
Applications must be postmarked by March 31 and grants are limited to supporting projects in the company's service areas, noted the release.
According to the release, qualifying projects must address a source water or watershed protection need in the New Jersey American Water service area, be scheduled for completion between May 1 and Nov. 30, 2014, be a new or innovative program or a significant expansion of an existing program, provide evidence of sustainability and be carried out by a formal or informal partnership between two or more organizations.
The Environmental Grant Program from New Jersey American Water has provided nearly $110,000 in funding since beginning in 2009.
