New study projects growth in water treatment equipment market

CLEVELAND — A study by the Freedonia Group projects increased demand, particularly in developing regions.

CLEVELAND — A new study by the Freedonia Group, "World Water Treatment Equipment," shows that world demand for water treatment equipment is expected to grow 6.9 percent per year to $53.4 billion in 2017, according to a press release on Fresh Plaza.

Strong growth is expected in developing regions such as the Asia/Pacific and Africa/Mideast areas, Eastern Europe, Central and South America, the release reported.

Increases in developing regions will be supported by improved drinking water and sanitation facilities and expanded manufacturing and industrial activities that require water treatment equipment, noted the release.

According to the release, increasing demand for membrane equipment in particular will be caused by greater interest in water reuse and water desalination equipment, specifically in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
