WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation (NGWREF) announced it is seeking applications for the Emerging Leaders Alliance Conference, according to a press release.

The conference is scheduled to take place Nov. 8-11 in Reston, Virginia, stated the release.

Applications will be accepted until June 30, and NGWREF is offering the opportunity for young professionals to apply to the conference to receive free registration valued at $1,500, continued the release.

The Emerging Leaders Alliance was formed in 2008 as a cooperative project of organizations, which includes NGWREF, and seeks to foster leadership in the scientific and engineering communities, noted the release.

“In so many industries, including the groundwater industry, individuals go to school and learn their industry through experience. When you reach a certain level of competence, you are asked to manage and no one has trained you for that,” said NGWREF Administrator Rachel Geddes. “This conference is about teaching those who haven’t gone to business school how to lead the people in their company and industry.”

The release reported that those who would benefit from attending the conference include: Groundwater industry professionals, university personnel (i.e., professors) and government agency personnel.
