Petainer releases BPA-free water cooler

Nov. 26, 2013

PETERSBOROUGH, U.K. — Demand for BPA-free water cooler containers is rising due to newfound BPA health effects.

PETERSBOROUGH, U.K. — Petainer has just launched the PetainerCooler™, a BPA-free, lightweight, returnable, refillable and recyclable water cooler, according to a press release.

Demand for water cooler containers that are 100 percent BPA-free is set to increase sharply in the wake of rising health concerns and changes to safety regulations, the release noted.

BPA, or bisphenol A, is a synthetic compound commonly found in plastic packaging, which is used for its clarity and strength, but has been found to have a range of harmful health effects including cancer, heart disease and diabetes, the release reported.

Annemieke Hartman-Jemmett, strategy director at Petainer, said: “The tide is turning against the use of BPA in the food and beverage industry.  Regulators and EFSA’s scientists can no longer ignore the mounting evidence that BPA is harmful to health, and we therefore believe that it’s only a matter of time before PET water coolers with zero BPA are selected over other products globally.”

The PetainerCooler™ has standard fittings so it will work with most water coolers systems, according to the release.
