Apr. 14, 2011 -- A condenser cooling water application at India's ultra-mega thermal power plant in Mundra, Gujarat, will handle 175,000 liters per second, making it the world's largest.
Global water management solutions provider Kirloskar Brothers Limited will provide the ten concrete volute pumps for the project. Each unit consists of two sets of concrete volute pumps with a capacity of 17,500 liters per second per pump. All ten pumps will be installed at a single location, totaling 175,000 liters per second and ranking it the largest condenser cooling water pumping system for a thermal power plant.
The Mundra power plant project is expected to benefit close to 16 million domestic consumers and supply cost competitive power to industry and agriculture in India.
