PITTSBURGH, May 3, 2016 -- Evoqua Water Technologies has been awarded the 2015 Gold Award for excellent safety performance at the Chevron Refinery in El Segundo, Calif. This award is Chevron’s highest Safety recognition, presented on an annual basis to its partners who consistently provide incident-free, on-site services over an entire calendar year period. This is the third consecutive year that Evoqua has received this highest Safety Award from Chevron.
The Chevron El Segundo refinery recently received a Distinguished Safety Award by the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers, and was recognized as “The Safest Refinery in the US.” During the awards presentation, Chevron leadership emphasized that the El Segundo Refinery could not have obtained this prestigious and highly sought-after award without the excellent, incident-free safety performance of their contractors.
“Everything we do across our entire Company begins and ends with safety,” said Rodney Aulick, President of Evoqua’s Industrial Projects and Services division. “Our commitment to safety within our own facilities also extends to our work done on our customer’s sites. Working safely is the top priority of our customers too, so we are joined at the hip in everything we do and how we do it.”
Evoqua’s businesses provide a variety of on-site water treatment services to refineries throughout the world, ranging from full outsourcing contracts to emergency water systems to turnaround projects. Evoqua in total serves approximately 90 refineries across the United States, including 15 of the 20 largest U.S. refineries.
Each day, nearly two billion gallons of water are used in petroleum refining in North America across all production units for heat transfer, as a raw material in generating hydrogen, and in utility water used to wash crude oil and the equipment that processes it. Evoqua provides equipment and support for utility water, boiler feedwater, and the treatment of steam condensate as well as the ability to treat refinery wastewaters and provide specific contaminant removal for heavy metals, including selenium, chrome, and mercury.
