ALBERTA, CANADA, March 13, 2014 -- A large oil and gas company, focused on in-situ projects, recently purchased two horizontal mechanical vapor compression (MVC) evaporators to increase the produced water treatment capacity of a steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) production site in Northern Alberta.
Provided by IDE Technologies Ltd., the MVC evaporators will process and treat de-oiled produced water to continuously supply high-quality distillate. The boiler feedwater will be used for drum boilers, generating steam for injection to recover bitumen at the SAGD site. The pre-fabricated evaporators will be shipped to the site after full pre-assembly and testing, reducing the required scope of site construction, thus saving time and reducing costs.
The low footprint and operator-friendly mechanical design of IDE's evaporators provide ready access to key components, as well as improved safety for operation and maintenance personnel. In addition, the evaporators are equipped with a unique removable tube bundle feature that significantly simplifies de-scaling and cleaning operations and reduces associated downtime production losses.
