MONTPELIER, VT, Nov. 8, 2010 -- Repairs are under way at the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant to fix a pipe that leaked radioactive water and forced the plant to shut down.

Routine surveillance revealed a leak on Sunday, but technicians had to wait several hours for the plant to cool down before accessing the area.

A plant spokesman said the reactor was leaking at a rate of about 60 drops a minute from a 2-foot-wide pipe in the reactor's circulation system.

The cause of the leak has not yet been determined and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission said the public was not in any danger.
