WesTech signs alliance agreement with Microvi

WesTech Engineering Inc. has signed an exclusive alliance agreement with Microvi Biotech Inc. to promote Microvi’s innovative biological technologies for the water and wastewater industries. The agreement gives exclusivity to WesTech to promote Microvi’s technologies in the U.S. and Canada, while also pursuing advantageous partnerships globally. The alliance builds on the foundation of existing partnership projects, including water and wastewater projects in California, Arizona, Illinois, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Microvi’s water technologies are based on engineered polymer-microorganism composites called biocatalysts, which contain a high density of a single species of microorganisms (natural, non-pathogenic, non-genetically modified). These biocatalysts actively convert targeted pollutants into non-harmful byproducts without producing a biological waste stream.

Veolia awarded contract with oil and gas operator

Veolia announced that it has been selected by Antero Resources, through its subsidiary Veolia Water North America Operating Services, LLC, to manage the process of loading, packaging, transporting and proper disposal of water treatment sludge generated at its Clearwater facility near Pennsboro, West Virginia. Antero, a leading independent natural gas and oil company, selected Veolia through its subsidiary Veolia North America, which will be supported by the expertise of Veolia’s Nuclear Solutions entity. Under this up to 10-year, $70 million contract, Veolia will address the water treatment sludge produced at the facility, including collecting and treating TENORM – technologically enhanced, naturally occurring radioactive materials that are exposed to the environment as a result of human activities, highlighting Veolia’s ability to deal with the range of clients’ toughest and complex waste needs. As part of the agreement, Veolia will also provide a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety program to protect Veolia’s employees and subcontractors, the public and the environment. Once completed, the Clearwater facility will treat and recycle 60,000 barrels of produced water a day.

Baswood wins technology award

Baswood Corporation, a global leader in biological wastewater treatment, was awarded the 2017 Technology Innovation Award by Frost & Sullivan. The award recognizes Baswood’s innovative approach of utilizing proven fixed-film, fixed-media technologies and sequencing them in a unique way to treat wastewater within a significantly smaller energy footprint, ultimately delivering much lower operating costs and a high return on investment for its customers. Baswood holds two patents: one for its Aerobic/Anaerobic Integrated Media System (AIMS) and one for its Dry Cycle Aerobic/Anaerobic Digestion (DCAD) solution, which is used in the AIMS. Frost & Sullivan recognized Baswood as a "market disruptor" because the company’s innovative wastewater solutions provide customers with significant surcharge reduction and, ultimately, a quick financial return.
