Registration open for ‘Utilities of the Future’ conference

Nov. 24, 2015

The joint event is presented by WEF and AWWA to address successful management as utilities are challenged to solve water issues with fewer resources.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Nov. 20, 2015 — The 2016 Utility Management Conference: On the Road to the Utilities of the Future is accepting registrations for its Feb. 24-27 event, according to a press release.

The conference is hosted jointly by the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) in cooperation with the California Water Environment Association, noted the release. It is co-located with the National Association of Clean Water Agency’s 2016 Winter Conference scheduled for Feb. 21-24.

WEF and AWWA have collaborated for more than 25 years to address successful utility management in a changing society through a join management conference, stated the release. The topic is especially important as utilities and consultants must do more with less and find solutions to water quality issues.

"An important step in best addressing these issues is a sector-wide movement toward Utilities of the Future (UOTF) — transforming traditional treatment into full resource recovery that includes sustainable, cost-effective options that capture valuable and reusable products for society," reported the release.

The 2016 conference features seven workshops and 36 sessions, shared the release. Topics include: utility benchmarking, sustainability initiatives, workforce development, efficiency and risk management, innovation and resiliency. It will be held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
