CHICAGO — Richardson, CEO of Greeley and Hansen, received the award during ACE13 for his exceptional achievements and commitment to the water industry.

CHICAGO — Andrew W. Richardson, CEO of Greeley and Hansen, a global civil, environmental and architectural consulting firm headquartered in Chicago for nearly 100 years, received the Outstanding Service Award for his exceptional achievements and commitment to the water industry at the American Water Works Association (AWWA) annual meeting in Denver, Colo., according to a press release.

Richardson, a member of the AWWA since 1983, sat on the AWWA's Board of Directors and Executive Committee from 2001-2007, including serving as the association's president in 2005-2006.

While President of AWWA, he initiated and chaired the first meeting of the officers from all major water and wastewater associations to collaborate and develop a single, consistent message to the public, on behalf of the water industry, about the value of water to public health, safety and welfare, stated the release.

He also served as the AWWA vice-president and in other key leadership positions. In addition, Richardson has led and participated in committees for the international development of AWWA and has been a contributing author for three AWWA publications on water reuse.

"I’m honored and humbled to receive this prestigious award from the American Water Works Association," said Richardson. “Over the years I’ve been truly inspired by the dedicated professionals who have supported the advancement of AWWA through their tireless service and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work together with so many of them. As a proud member of this notable organization for more than 30 years, I look forward to continuing our mission to improve the quality of the world’s drinking water supply and to serve as the first-line resource for the water science and education community."

Richardson and his late father, William H. Richardson (president of AWWA in 1983-84), who received the award in 1988, are the first father-son combination to receive the Outstanding Service Award in the AWWA's 132 year history.
