RO water purifiers lead India’s market

Aug. 12, 2014

INDIA — A high total dissolved solid (TDS) level of water across the majority of India’s states helps place reverse osmosis (RO) technology in the forefront for India’s water purifier market.

INDIA — A recent report by TechSci Research, “India Water Purifier Marker Forecast & Opportunities, 2019,” found that India’s water purifiers market is dominated by reverse osmosis (RO) water purifiers due to high total dissolved solid (TDS) levels across most states’ water supply, according to a press release.

Roughly 70 percent of shares in the India RO market are held by only 10 companies, with Eureka Forbes and Kent RO as the forerunners — jointly accounting for approximately 50 percent market share in 2013, stated the release.

In 1999, Kent introduced RO technology to India, which previously was dominated by UV technology, continued the release.

In 2013 Eureka Forbes, also a leader in the UV industry, overtook Kent and became the market frontrunner for RO water purifiers, noted the release.
