San Diego signs off on water reuse program

SAN DIEGO — The “Pure Water San Diego” program aims to create 82 million gallons of additional water reuse per day.

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego City Council announced it has signed off on the “Pure Water San Diego” program, which aims to generate 83 million gallons per day of additional water reuse capacity serving the city, according to a press release.

San Diego hopes to upgrade existing plants and ultimately build a new facility to help reach its target by 2035, stated the release.

The release reported that the city has not yet decided how the water projects will be financed.

San Diego anticipates to have 15 million gallons per day of reuse capacity available by 2023, noted the release.
