ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Dec. 1, 2015 — Utility leaders can apply for scholarship funds to travel to the 2016 Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) as part of a U.S. utility delegation, according to a press release.

The biennial event features best practices, innovative technologies and business opportunities in the global water sector, noted the release. The Water Environment Federation (WEF), the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) and the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) are sponsoring the scholarship in partnership with Singapore’s national water agency, PUB.

SIWW 2016 will take place July 10-14, stated the release. International water leaders and practitioners are invited to share and collaborate on solutions that encourage sustainable water management strategies with urban planning processes.

"Through a collaborative sponsorship of the scholarship and utility delegation, the organizations are seeking to help break down international barriers, assist with the acceleration of technology transfer and create an understanding of innovative policy options to further integrate resource recovery across the water sector," reported the release.

The organizations encourage high-level managers, general managers and CEOs of U.S. water and wastewater utilities to apply for the scholarship, shared the release. Applicants must be members of WEF or NACWA and by employed by a WERF subscriber. Recipients will be encouraged to publish papers and present on their SIWW experiences.

The deadline to apply is Feb. 5, 2016, noted the release. Recipients will be announced in March 2016.
