B&W SPIG completes cooling tower upgrade for Belgium petrochemical plant

Babcock & Wilcox subsidiary SPIG S.p.A. (SPIG) completed a cooling tower upgrade project at an Antwerp, Belgium, production facility owned by its customer, Total Olefins Antwerp NV (TOA). SPIG developed a customized solution to improve the performance of the plant’s existing cooling towers. SPIG replaced 12 existing cooling tower cells with six new units.

SPIG’s experience includes wet, dry and wet/dry hybrid cooling solutions as dictated by site-specific requirements. The company supplied mechanical and natural draft systems and designs for a range of project specifications such as high seismic loads, vibration control, corrosion, noise control, subfreezing operation and seawater use.

SES Water selects Echologics technology to assess water main

Echologics, a subsidiary of Mueller Water Products Inc., will start a water pipe condition assessment project in Europe with SES Water. Following completion of a successful initial trial with SES Water in 2018, the new project includes the assessment of 273.8 km (170 miles) of aging metallic mains. SES Water serves over 700,000 customers in East Surrey, parts of West Sussex, West Kent and south of London.

ePulse technology is a noninvasive acoustic solution that assesses a pipe’s condition and simultaneously detects leaks. It analyzes information about the pipe material, the time frame in which it was installed, the diameter of the pipe and the original wall thickness to estimate the condition and the remaining service life of the pipe.

FCI Product Knowledge Workshop offers training workshop on thermal flowmeters and flow switches

Fluid Components International (FCI) announced that registration is open for its next free customer training Product Knowledge Workshop, which will take place on October 15–16 in San Marcos, California. This workshop is designed to provide customers with training on FCI thermal dispersion mass flowmeters, flow switches and level switches.

The classes will include the first live training for the recently announced ST80 Series Thermal Flow Meter with Adaptive Sensor Technology (AST) featuring a hybrid sensor drive. To register for FCI’s Product Knowledge Workshops, call FCI’s Training Department at 760-736-6117 or email [email protected].
