To always be sure we maintain relevancy among readers, we are constantly looking for ways to validate the trends in the industry to make sure we are providing the editorial content our readers want to see in print and online. For this purpose, we take a three-pronged approach to form the foundation of our editorial content.

Our editorial advisory board, which includes Contaminant of the Month and Professor POU/POE author and Technical Editor Dr. Joseph Cotruvo, is the first prong. The board is a great resource that reviews and writes articles for the magazine, using their years of expertise to make sure every detail is accurate and informative.

Secondly, we conduct surveys like the one in this issue throughout the year to stay on top of the trends in the industry and hear what our readers have to say on a large scale. Make sure to check out our annual benchmarking survey in this issue to see what we found this year.

And lastly, we make a point to visit actual readers throughout the year to find out direct from the source what issues are making the biggest impact on dealers. I was able to go on a number of reader visits recently in the Albany, N.Y. area with a variety of readers that included bottled water salesmen, municipal water treatment professionals and residential water treatment dealers. From these visits we’ve learned that industry ethics and certification, the general economic climate, state and federal bottled beverage regulations, the large scale updating of aging water infrastructure and water conservation are all issues on our readers’ minds, among other issues.

I would like to sincerely thank those readers who took time out of their busy schedules to talk with me about their businesses and their concerns to help us meet our goals. I hope to meet many more of you in the future.

This issue is a great example of our three-pronged approach to validating our editorial content, and a great resource to keep at hand all year long. Referencing the annual benchmarking survey can be just as helpful for you, in keeping track of your goals and concerns throughout the year, as it has been for us.
