Tank failure leads to explosion of water treatment plant in N.Y.

CHESTER, N.Y. — Town officials discovered that a pressurized compressor that sends water to residents in the Kings Tract development exploded.

CHESTER, N.Y. — Police received a report on the night of Oct. 2 of an explosion off Laroe Road in the town of Chester, N.Y. and that residents were not receiving water, according to Middle Hudson News.

Town officials quickly became aware of the situation and discovered that a pressurized compressor that sends water to residents in the Kings Tract development exploded.

Initial investigations reveal that the tank failed leading to the entire treatment building being blown up during the explosion, noted the article.

Town police Chief Daniel Doellinger said there is no evidence of criminal activity, but the investigation is ongoing.

The private company 473 West End Realty Corp. owns the water system and says water will be available to residents from a water tanker later on Oct. 3, stated the article.
