U.S. Water Alliance announces 2015 U.S. Water Prize winners

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Water Prize winners will be honored at an awards ceremony on April 13 at the National Geographic’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Water Alliance announced the 2015 winners for the fifth annual U.S. Water Prize, according to a press release.

The U.S. Water Prize was created by the U.S. Water Alliance “to elevate organizations with strategies that promote the value of water and the power of innovating and integrating for one water sustainability,” stated the release.

The selected winners for 2015 represent nonprofit, municipal and business, continued the release.

The release reported that the winners include: The Electric Power Research Institute in Palo Alto, California, the city of San Diego Public Utilities Department in California and the Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, Georgia.

Nominations for the prize were reviewed by an independent, volunteer panel of judges respected as leaders in the fields of water and environmental policy, and the winners will be honored during an awards ceremony, to be attended by over 300 U.S. water leaders, at National Geographic’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., on April 13, noted the release.

“These are inspiring organizations,” said Dick Champion, chairman of the U.S. Water Alliance board of directors. “They are at the forefront of improving and protecting the health of U.S. watersheds. Through technology, collaboration and education these organizations are driving the United States to a more sustainable water future.”
