US Peroxide provides oil refinery with treatment program

ATLANTA — The program helped the activated sludge system recover after nitrifying bacteria died and oxygen levels fell.

ATLANTA — US Peroxide, which provides full-service environmental treatment programs to help purify water, wastewater, soil and air, recently provided an oil refinery on the Gulf Coast with hydrogen peroxide for sulfide oxidation and supplemental DO, according to a press release.

The program helped the activated sludge system recover, after it was upset by high COD loading that killed the nitrifying bacteria and lowered the dissolved oxygen levels, and created an environment that allowed the nitrifying bacteria to reestablish, the release reported.

US Peroxide was then asked to look at the high strength, high pH caustic water in order to determine if it could be treated on-site and processed through the activated sludge system in a safe, economic manner, according to the release.
