SOUTH CHENNAI, India — Many residents of South Chennai, India were overjoyed with the distribution last month from the new Nemelli desalination plant, according to The New Indian Express.
The Rs 871.24-core plant was opened by Chief Minister J Jayalaithaa on February 22, 2013.
Since operation began it has quenched the thirst of residents by supplying water through conveying mains and various pump houses, noted the article.
Metro Water spent the first month flushing out pipes before delivering the water to many areas in Indira Nagar, Beasant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur and PTC Colony.
Before the desalination plant was installed many residents in these areas had no water supply at all, stated the article.
