Severn signs contract to provide denitrification filter technology to company in China

SHANGHAI, China — The Phase I Project has a daily capacity of 550,000 tons, making it the largest Denite DeepBed filter in China.

SHANGHAI, China — Severn Trent Services, a supplier of water and wastewater solutions, recently signed a contract with Tianjin Machinery & Electric Equipment Import & Export Co. Ltd. to provide its TETRA Denite denitrification filter technology to the Tianjin Jinnan Wastewater Treatment Plant Phase I Project, according to a press release.

The Phase I Project has a daily capacity of 550,000 tons, making it the largest Denite DeepBed filter in China, noted the release.

The denitrification installation will ensure the Tianjin Jinnan plant meets the Class 1A wastewater discharge requirements for total nitrogen, recently established due to the implementation of Water Resource Management Regulations, which enforce high quality standards on wastewater treatment and discharge and recycled water.

The Severn Trent Services design uses 30 filters, each measuring 28.45 m x 3.56 m for a total filter area in excess of 3,000 m2, stated the release.

The start-up of this project is set to commence in October 2013.
