MASON CITY, Iowa — Officials say there is no need to worry about the drinking water after testing positive for bacteria, according to KIMT News.
The water quality report for Mason City, Iowa, showed the local drinking water tested positive for coliforms, but officials say it’s nothing harmful, stated the article.
The bacterium was found to be coming from a nearby gas station.
While this type of bacterium is found naturally in the environment, it could mean that other harmful bacteria could be present, noted the article.
Mason City Water Supply Superintendent, Greg Lee, says it’s nothing to be worried about.
“If it was a major issue beyond that then we’d order a boil order issue, and then it would be more of a concern. In this case it’s just a minor,” said Lee.
