GILLETTE Wyo. — An official of Encana Oil and Gas presented a plan to a panel of Wyoming state lawmakers on a long term project to treat water from an oil and natural gas field west of Casper, Wyo., according to the Casper Star Tribune.
The company has taken on much scrutiny since its initial proposal to pump wastewater from the same field into an aquifer.
The Encana Oil and Gas official told the panel the company would bring “sophisticated” water treatment technology to the Moneta Divide soon, noted the article.
Construction could begin as soon as July 2013.
While the company still intends to inject water from the project into the Madison geologic formation, the new plan would treat additional water from existing wells with the ability to expand later to meet larger demands, stated the article.
