PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — At a recent City Council meeting in Portsmouth, N.H. a proposed $10 million bond for upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment plant was brought up for consideration, according to Seacoast Online News.
Councilors are considering a bond authorization for the infrastructure improvement projects at the Wastewater Treatment Plant at Peirce Island, noted the article.
The proposal is to build a new facility that will bring the city into compliance with the secondary treatment standards of the new wastewater discharge permit from the Environmental Protection Agency, stated the article.
The entire project at Peirce Island is expected to cost $63 million. The bond for $10 million is for Phase 1 of the project, which includes permitting, design and initial construction such as the demolition of existing structures.
