Birkett receives IDA Lifetime Achievement Award

TIANJIN, China — Birkett was the first elected president of IDA and has served the industry for more than four decades.

TIANJIN, China — Dr. Jim Birkett has received the International Desalination Association's (IDA) Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions to the desalination and water reuse fields, according to a press release. 

The award was presented at the IDA World Congress 2013 in Tianjin, the release noted.

Birkett is considered one of the most respected desalination professionals, noted the release, with his four decades of experience in the industry and his role as the first elected president of IDA.

Later serving as treasurer and director, Birkett also served as chairman of the editorial boards from the IDA Journal of Desalination and Water Reuse and on other desalination publications.
