KISII, Kenya — Kisii University has signed a memorandum of understanding with water treatment NGO Agua Inc., according to an article on AllAfrica.
The company uses aquatic plants to treat wastewater, according to the article.
"Our organization is able to treat water to international standards recognized by World Health Organization (WHO) without the use of chemicals," said Agua Inc. co-founder Pedro Delgado.
According to the article, the technology requires little energy, reducing treatment costs, and Agua Inc. has been working with the universities of Hampshire and Colorado to treat their waste water.
"Using aquatic plants, our organization is able to purify sewage/wastewater in a completely sustainable and environmentally friendly manner," said Delgado.
Agua Inc. has implemented similar projects in 175 countries, according to the article.
