PETALUMA, Calif. — Trevi Systems, a forward osmosis desalination start-up based out of Petaluma, confirmed a partnership with Masdar during the Ascent Climate Summit held in Abu Dhabi, according to a press release.

Masdar put forth an initiative in May of 2013 to find renewable water solutions and identified Trevi’s forward osmosis process as a ‘game changing’ technology, noted the release.

The initiative will fund the design and construction of a forward osmosis pilot system in the United Arab Emirates, commencing December 2014, the release reported.

“We have taken great pleasure in Trevi Systems’ involvement in this flagship initiative," said Dr. Alexander Ritschel, senior manager at Masdar.

According to the release, Masdar is a pioneering research facility, dedicated to promoting sustainable technological solutions to climate change and showcases these breakthrough technologies during the Ascent Summit meeting.
