Regional associations offer support system for dealers

June 10, 2014

From achieving professional certification to networking with local peers, dealers should attend regional events.

In this issue of Water Technology we feature a couple of regional shows and training events. Networking and educational seminars throughout the year by regional trade associations, such as TWQA and EWQA, offer a support system throughout the country for dealers, distributors and other water treatment professionals.

On April 30 and May 1, our Managing Editor Jessica Rhodes and I attended the Eastern Water Quality Association’s (EWQA) Spring Water Treatment Training Event in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. EWQA’s training event brought together some very high profile experts in New York state to share their expertise with dealers, plumbers, operators, PE’s, OEM’s and more.

“In our particular region we are blessed with pretty good water [supplies] so we don’t have as many issues [as some other parts of the country]. However, we’re concerned, of course, with safety, emerging technologies, the environment and green technologies,” said Tim Jansen, who is an EWQA board member and part of the committee for this year’s Spring Water Treatment Training Event.

I spoke with Jansen in Saratoga Springs about this year’s training event in New York and inquired about the 2014 Fall Conference and Trade Show. A complete audio podcast of our interview can be found on WaterTechOnline.com. EWQA’s fall event is scheduled for Sept. 24, 25 and 26 and will be held in Hunt Valley, Md.

We also caught up with the Executive Director of the Texas Water Quality Association (TWQA) Daina Grace. In our interview, Grace speaks about the association’s 41st Annual TWQA Convention and Exposition, scheduled for July 16-19 at the Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel & Spa.

In addition to attending WQA Aquatech shows each year, attending the events from these regionals can help your business in many ways. From achieving professional certification and advancing your knowledge of water quality to networking with local peers, attending regional events is worth the investment in time and money.
