Free online lesson available for household well owners

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Household well owners can access an online lesson about nitrate in drinking water provided by the National Ground Water Association.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The National Ground Water Association (NGWA) is providing a free online lesson concerning nitrate in drinking water on their well owner website, according to a press release.

Developed with the help of EPA, the online lesson takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes to complete and covers information including: What nitrate is, where it comes from, how it enters the private well supply and how to determine any risks, as well as solutions for treating nitrate in well water, stated the release.

The brief lesson includes short pre- and post-lesson quizzes, that if successfully completed, will result in a certificate of completion signifying that the lesson takers possess basic knowledge about nitrate in drinking water, reported the release.

The certificate will be emailed to successful quiz takers based on the information provided during the free registration, continued the release.

“While the lesson was originally developed for those in Minnesota, this lesson provides some of the important information that well owners should know, regardless of where they reside,” said NGWA Public Awareness Director Cliff Treyens in the release. “The 15 minutes or so required to take this lesson is time well spent.”
