    EWA receives fourth consecutive award for excellence and innovation

    CARLSBAD, Calif. — The Encina Wastewater Authority (EWA), a public authority owned by six California member agencies through a joint powers agreement, provides wastewater treatment services to communities in Northwestern San Diego County.

    CARLSBAD, Calif. — The Encina Wastewater Authority (EWA) announced the acceptance of its fourth consecutive award for excellence and innovation in wastewater resource recovery, according to a press release.

    EWA, a public authority owned by six California member agencies through a joint powers agreement, provides wastewater treatment services to communities in Northwestern San Diego County, stated the release.

    The public agency was awarded for their efforts in turning methane into electricity and human waste into fertilizer, continued the release.

    During 2013, EWA engaged in a series of public-private partnerships to help boost the safety and efficiency of their PureGreen fertilizer and PureEnergy co-generation system, reported the release.
