World Water Works to bring wastewater technology to global market

OKLAHOMA CITY — World Water Works Inc. announced it has been selected by the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water) and the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) to bring its patent-pending AVN™ technology to the global market, according to a press release.

The technology, which is named for the balance it achieves in ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) versus nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB), utilizes a proprietary control strategy, applying selective pressure to aid in the segregation of the desired bacterial populations — allowing wastewater treatment systems to achieve efficient removal of total nitrogen, stated the release.

The release reported that AVN will manage the influent carbon, minimize the alkalinity demands and reduce the energy requirement of the system while maintaining effluent quality.

World Water Works was selected through a public bidding process due to their track record of success in bringing new technologies to market, extensive ammonia removal experience, complementary technologies and their reputation for customer satisfaction, noted the release.
