Hundreds of water professionals attend WSI 2014

LAS VEGAS — The 2014 WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition (WSI 2014) included comprehensive professional sessions, panel discussions, preconference workshops and a sold-out expo hall.

LAS VEGAS — More than 900 professionals working in a variety of water-related disciplines participated in the seventh annual WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition (WSI 2014), held Oct. 8-10, in Las Vegas, according to a press release.

The WSI program included comprehensive professional sessions, panel discussions, preconference workshops and a sold-out expo hall, stated the release.

The release reported that WSI 2014 also featured an opening keynote address by Sandra Postel, founder of Global Water Policy Project and co-creator of Change the Course — the national fresh water restoration campaign, undertaken by National Geographic and its partners and piloted in the Colorado River Basin.

The conference participants were comprised of professionals from 36 states, and the District of Columbia, as well as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Egypt, France, U.K., Japan, The Netherlands and New Zealand, noted the release.

“WaterSmart is meeting a critical need for communities with challenged water supplies,” said Doug Bennett, program chairman and conservation manager for the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA). “People leave the event with concepts and resources they can deploy quickly. That’s particularly important in drought-affected regions.”
