ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Kevan P. Lawlor will begin his term as chair of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) board of directors later this month.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — NSF International announced that the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has elected NSF International President and CEO Kevan P. Lawlor as chair of its board of directors, according to a press release.

Lawlor, who will begin his term as ANSI chair later in February, is “uniquely qualified” for this role with NSF’s 70-year history of developing ANSI standards and offering “conformity assessment services” for the food, health science, water, construction and consumer goods industries, stated the release.

The release reported that Lawlor has also served as chair for ANSI’s audit committee and most recently served as the vice chair of its board.

He has more than 30 years of leadership experience with NSF, holding positions such as senior vice president of food safety, chief financial officer and president of NSF International Strategic Registrations (NSF-ISR), noted the release.

“We are absolutely delighted Kevan has been elected to lead the ANSI board,” said ANSI President and CEO Joe Bhatia. “As the leader of one of the most widely respected standards development organizations, his breadth and wealth of experience continues to provide us with strong strategic and practical support as we continue to promote and facilitate voluntary consensus standards in the U.S.”
