IDA announces 2017 World Congress on Desalination and Water Reuse location

TOPSFIELD, Mass. — The International Desalination Association (IDA) World Conference, held every two years, is attended by delegates from private and public sectors typically representing more than 60 countries.

TOPSFIELD, Mass. — The International Desalination Association (IDA) announced it has selected São Paulo, Brazil, as the site for the 2017 World Congress on Desalination and Water Reuse, according to a press release.

Specific details and dates about the venue are currently being finalized, stated the release.

“The award was made after a review by IDA’s Site Selection Committee of three final candidates — São Paulo, Brazil; Kuwait City, Kuwait; and Busan, South Korea — and subsequent vote by the IDA board,” said IDA Secretary General Patricia A. Burke. “Latin America is widely recognized as an important emerging market in desalination and water reuse. We look forward to a very successful event in 2017.”

The IDA World Conference, held every two years, is “widely regarded as the premier event for the global desalination and water reuse community,” and is attended by delegates from the private and public sectors, continued the release.

The 2015 IDA World Congress will take place Aug. 31 to Sept. 4 in San Diego, California, noted the release.
