WateReuse Symposium keynote to feature Gates Foundation executive

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Water managers and industry leaders will attend the conference to learn about water policy, operations, technology and public perception.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Brian Arbogast of the Gates Foundation will present the keynote address at the 30th Annual WateReuse Symposium in Seattle, Washington, Sept. 13-16, according to a press release.

Arbogast leads the foundation’s “effort to bring groundbreaking innovations in sanitation technology and new ways to deliver sanitation products and services to people in the developing world,” noted the release. “One of those innovations is a low-cost technology that can convert up to 14 tons of sewage into potable water and electricity each day using a blend of steam power and water filtration.”

Water managers and industry leaders will attend the conference to learn about water policy, operations, technology and public perception, stated the release. They can take part in more than 100 presentations, panel discussions, workshops, tours and the exhibit hall.

“This year’s symposium has something for everyone,” said WateReuse Executive Director Melissa Meeker in the release. “There are learning opportunities for those that are new to water reuse, in-depth discussions for those that are technically knowledgeable, and an overall focus on effectively communicating with the public.”

Topics include potable reuse, global water reuse, communication and coalition building, reported the release. Ted Talk alumna Melissa Marshall will help audience members with message development to aid in public engagement.
