FOLSOM, Calif. — Aug. 25, 2015 — Trimark Associates won an $8.6 million contract to deliver a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) solution for Santa Clara’s water and wastewater system, according to a press release.
The company must implement the system by the Feb. 2016 Super Bowl, to be held in the city, noted the release. It will construct, configure and commission improvements to the current system and a new wireless telecommunications network.
The city uses the system to control potable water treatment and distribution, recycled water and sewage treatment processes, stated the release. Trimark Associates must replace the portion of the project that directly affects Levi’s Stadium, where the game will be played, before kickoff.
"In addition to expanding automation and control over more field devices, the system will support business continuity in case of an emergency," said Mark Morosky, president and CEO of Trimark Associates, in the release. "This objective will be enabled by redundant communications, enhanced physical and cyber security, and business intelligence that draws from real-time and historical operational data. We are honored to be selected to deliver a project of this scale and criticality."
Westin Engineering, Kenexis, Schneider Electric, Applied Technology Group and Spatial Wave will also support the project, reported the release.
The existing SCADA system has reached the end of its life, while the new one will feature several improvements, including upgrades to the wireless network, security, computer and software improvements, shared the release. The work is expected to last 18 months.
