Turbidity monitoringHach's AquaTrend firmware was created to help water treatment plants comply with EPA's latest requirement for turbidity monitoring. The new Version 4.0 provides data logging every 15 minutes for 30 days. By testing turbidity in 15-minute intervals, the firmware complies with the EPA specification for turbidity reporting, which became effective in December 1998. The regulation specifically requires water plants to monitor filters individually. The firmware compresses and stores data automatically, eliminating the need for an on-site data logger or computer.Hach Co.Loveland, COTel: 800-227-4224Web: www.hach.com

Streaming potential monitorThe new AccuStream™ streaming potential monitoring system from GLI International continuously measures electrical charge intensity, which indicates coagulant dosage in the treatment process. Use of this analytical device ensures optimum chemical dosage, which improves water treatment performance while reducing coagulant consumption and overall treatment costs. The non-fouling sensor design produces the streaming potential signal. With water samples continuously passing through the sensor, process changes can be detected instantly. An optimal sensor design buffers the sample, maintaining a stable signal even with variations in flow rate. The system is able to perform sensitive measurements over long periods of time with very little maintenance.GLI International, Inc. Milwaukee, WITel: 414-355-3601Web: www.gliint.com

UV monitorSolar Light's GLM10 is a stable, calibratable UV detector designed to ensure UV lamp efficacy. The unit's one-piece design for both readout and detector makes it suitable for operation in pressurized water environments. Percent of initial lamp intensity is read on an LED. When lamp output drops to 60%, a low-level indicator light turns on and a power relay trips to initiate any other alarm or desired control device. When UV intensity rises above the low-level set point, the alarm indication is automatically removed.Solar Light Co.Philadelphia, PATel: 215-927-4206Web: www.solar.com
