Inside drops

Reliner®/Duran offers Inside Drops for sanitary sewers that can eliminate outside drops in manholes, clean up failed inside drops and are excellent as stormwater drops. Used in wet wells they can help prevent pump cavitation. Compact, low profile Drop Bowls and Stainless Pipe Supports help reduce maintenance and simplify cleaning while providing full access to areas below. The bowls attach to the manhole wall with stainless expansion bolts.

Cathodic protection

Farwest Corrosion Control Co. has released the PowerMag® 1000 cathodic protection controller for steel water tank applications. The controller uses the energy generated by the magnesium anodes and the tank itself to power the controller and automatically regulate the tank to water voltage potential in a galvanic cathodic protection system. The system enables full control over low maintenance sacrificial magnesium anode systems with no "over voltage" issues. This 100% solid state system, using the latest in low power digital technology, requires no external power or batteries, yet provides controlled and regulated cathodic protection current for the internal surfaces of steel reservoirs. It comes with a 3-year limited warranty and is NSF-61 compatible.

Gas detectors

A "protection package" of gas detectors engineered for water/waste treatment plants has been introduced by Sensor Electronics. The package includes a detector to spot toxic/explosive concentrations of methane, chlorine, hydrogen sulfide or sulfur dioxide; a transmitter shows actual gas levels in LEL or PPM, and a flashing alarm light and horns to warn personnel. Package components can mount anywhere, plug into any 110-volt outlet, or be hard-wired. Detectors can also retrofit into existing plant systems. Besides watching for dangerous gas levels, the package also monitors itself.

DAF pumps

EDUR Centrifugal DAF Pumps are available through Shanley Pump & Equipment. The pumps are designed for dissolved air flotation applications or systems requiring gas charging of liquids. They offer an efficient air saturation system for waste activated sludge thickening. They can be used in new and retrofitted applications and integrate into many OEM DAF units. The systems achieves separation efficiencies greater than 95%, with enhanced float solids concentration at 3 to 8WT%. The pumps produce ultra-fine micro-bubbles less then 30 microns in diameter.

Flow meter

The new DFM 5.0 Doppler Flow Meter from Greyline Instruments measures flow from outside a pipe. The clamp-on ultrasonic sensor mounts on any pipe ½" ID or larger. It is designed for "difficult" liquids like wastewater, sludge, slurries, abrasives or any liquid with bubbles or suspended solids. Calibration and start-up is simple with the built-in 5-button keypad. Standard features include a large, backlit display and totalizer, isolated 4-20 mA output and two control relays. Options include a built-in data logger and reporting system with USB output, Windows software and intrinsically safe sensor.

Suspended solids level

The Royce Model 711 Portable Suspended Solids/ Interface Level Analyzer is a waterproof instrument designed for the rigors of remote sampling. The meter provides reliable operation in waste treatment plants, rivers, lakes and other aqueous systems. The meter will read in either grams per liter when in the suspended solids mode or relative density percentage while in the interface level mode of operation. It stores the calibration values for suspended solids and interface level in two separate nonvolatile memory locations allowing the user to switch between operational modes without having to recalibrate. The net effect is two analyzers in one.

Diaphragm seals

Ashcroft® Types 510 & 511 diaphragm seals are the newest addition to the company's line of instrument media isolators. The all-welded seals protect pressure gauges, transmitters, switches and other instruments against the potentially harmful affects of caustic media. Available for use with ranges from vacuum through 5000 psi, the 510 & 511 seals can be threaded onto any ½ NPT fitting or welded directly to eliminate the possibility of leakage. Other features include a choice of diaphragm materials, fill fluids and a lower housing flush port (Type 511).
