July 12, 2013 -- A new mobile disinfection system has recently been announced by MIOX Corporation to help oil and gas providers meet a variety of produced water treatment needs. The Blackwater dual-MIOX Mixed Oxidant Solution (MOS) system trailer provides those professionals the capabilities of oxidizing chemistry safely with no hazardous cleanup or spill conditions, along with maintaining fluctuating water volume and water quality and oxidant demand all within a footprint no larger than 9' by 40'.

With the Blackwater system, salt, water and power are simply used to generate oxidant on-site and on-demand, and its process refutes the need to purchase, transport and store biocides, iron chelants and Hydrogen Sulfide scavengers. Cost-effective and environmentally efficient, the generation of oxidant on-site conserves transportation requirements by up to 80 percent by reducing carbon emissions and fuel consumption, eliminating labor and the storage and disposal of chemical containers.

The trailer is capable of treating in excess of 15,000 barrels per day at dosages exceeding 150 mg/l and higher depending on contaminants/constituents in the water. Moreover, MOS can help achieve complete kill of both Sulfate Reducing Bacteria (SRB) and Acid Producing Bacteria (APB) while eliminating Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S).

The MIOX Blackwater trailer plans to be launched this summer and will begin treating produced water for recycle.
