SCOTTSDALE, AZ, Mar. 28, 2011 -- AbTech is expanding testing of its Smart Spongewastewater treatment technology to help address nuclear facility wastewater cleanup.
After seeing positive results with bench scale testing, the company will begin field testing the product as part of a treatment process within a nuclear facility.
In lab tests, the product has been effective at hydrocarbon removal, removal of specific polymers, and removal of radioactive compounds associated with those contaminants.
AbTech Founder and CEO Glenn R. Rink said, "With nearly a year of laboratory tests behind us, our positive results have provided significant impetus to move rapidly into field testing under considerably more rigorous conditions."
